Hebrew Word For Praise & Worship

Yadah, Towdah, Shabach, Barak, Zamar, Halal, Tehillah — hands, thanks, shout, kneel, strings, and praise.

Tehillah — praise

YADAH — TOWDAH — SHABACH — BARAK — ZAMAR — HALAL — TEHILLAH.

Yadah: Yad, the open hand, direction, power. Ah, referring to Jehovah. Together — hands to God. When we get beyond our circumstances, beyond ourselves, reaching hands to the Father with the attitude of love, trust and awe, then we are giving Yadah to the Lord.

The first time this word appears in Scripture is Genesis 29:35. Leah, unloved, named her fourth son Judah — Praise — Yadah: “Now I will Yadah the Lord.”

Our Heavenly Father has blessed us with His Word. He sees our circumstances and desires to show Himself strong on our behalf. He hears our prayers when we pray according to His will. If we truly believe He sees and hears, we will have an expectation of victory.
